How It Started
The idea for Outdoor Optimizer first came to me as I was sitting in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic. After countless days at home, I was ready to go out and travel somewhere outdoors, so I picked Yosemite. I wanted to find the perfect time to visit Yosemite where I could climb Half Dome and avoid the crowds (and save some $$ on lodging).
As someone that hadn’t traveled much, I wasn’t sure if April or May would be the best time to go. I looked all over the internet for information that would help me decide between the two months, but I didn’t have much luck and I ended up choosing the wrong month—turns out Half Dome is closed in April . . .
That’s when I came up with the idea for Outdoor Optimizer—a tool designed to help you decide when’s the best time to visit your next national park (or even compare parks or dates you’re deciding between).
I hope Outdoor Optimizer helps you make the most out of your next national park adventure!
